Figurative language in music

everyone loves music well a lot of figurative language is in music figurative language  is words and phrases that don't mean what they appear to mean the authors of poems and books like to use figurative language in there writing to appeal to the readers figurative language often adds creativity to there writing and makes the article more interesting for the readers .

the first example of figurative language in modern music is in i love you like a love song by Selena Gomez in the song she says i love you LIKE a love song the key word being like the like is important because in a simile which is the type of figurative language thats being used the words thats specifies simile is  either like or as in the songs case it is like.

the next example is in fireflies by owl city fireflies in the song personification is used he says if ten million fireflies lit up the world as i fell asleep they fill the open air and leave tear drops everywhere this is personification because it is giving the fireflies around him human like traits the fireflies in the song were seen lighting up the world and leaving tear drops fireflies obviously cannot do those things therefore this is personification.

the last example is  in the catchy song i'm yours by Jason Mraz  he says i tried to be chill but your so hot that i melted this form of figurative language is the metaphor this use of a metaphor In a popular song might make the song more interesting relatable or  the tune more catchy therefore makes the song all together better to listen to then just being literal .

Music is more than just a catchy beat it poetry some people may think poetry is boring and is not fun but everyone loves music I bet you hade no idea that your favorite genres of music were in fact poetry. Figurative language is everywhere almost in everything you read and you have to admit it really does make music better.
